Phonic Jumping Beans!!
This is a great activity for kids to learn about phonics and be able to move around at the same time. It works well since most kids don't want to sit still for long periods of time. You will need index cards or you can use paper cut into smaller squares. If you need either one, you can contact me and I will do my best to help you gain access to some.
The first step of this game is to write the following consonants on your index cards: B,C,F,H,P,R,S,D.
Then on another set of index cards write the following ending blends: -at, -ig,-og, -an, -it.
Have your child tell you each of the constants and what sound they make. Now it's time to let your child become a phonic jumping bean! Your child will choose a consonant then a blend making a word. For instance, if they choose "P" they could then choose "-ig". You will have your child spell the word aloud, hoping with each letter and being a phonics jumping bean! As you child gets older, you can increase the letters and blends that you use and they will get to jump even longer! This is a very simple activity that works on their phonics skills and burns a little energy at the same time!
